Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Custom Clearance Manager to lead our customs brokerage operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire customs clearance process, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and managing a team to facilitate the smooth and timely clearance of import and export shipments. You will serve as the primary point of contact for customs authorities, clients, and international agents, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all documentation and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership:
  • Manage, monitor, and resolve all issues and activities related to the customs clearance process to ensure effective and timely operations.
  • Lead and guide the clearance team in preparing checklists based on pre-alert documents; review and provide final approval for the submission of the Bill of Entry (BOE).
  • Compliance and Documentation:
  • Review pre-alert shipping documents to proactively identify potential compliance issues and advise customers accordingly.
  • Possess and apply in-depth knowledge of all import/export documentation, customs regulations, and clearance procedures.
  • Follow up diligently on draft/pre-alert documents and forward the House Air Waybill (HAWB) or House Bill of Lading (HBL) to the consignee for timely approval.
  • Liaison and Coordination:
  • Act as the primary liaison with Customs officials, professionally and effectively responding to any queries raised during the clearance process.
  • Coordinate with the consignee to ensure Customs BOE is filed within the stipulated deadlines, avoiding any penalties or delays.
  • Follow up with the shipment's origin office/agent for status updates and relay this critical information promptly to the consignee.
  • Commercial and Agent Management:
  • Communicate and coordinate with international agents and partners to provide accurate and competitive quotes for Customs clearance charges under various Incoterms (e.g., DDP, DDU, DAP).

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of hands-on experience in customs clearance and freight forwarding.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role is highly preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Expert-level knowledge of customs clearance procedures, tariff classifications, and valuation principles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of import/export documentation, including Bill of Entry, Shipping Bill, HAWB/HBL, Certificate of Origin, etc.
  • Mandatory operational experience at various Delhi-NCR ports, including IGI Airport, ICD-Tughlakabad (TKD), ICD-Faridabad (FBD), ICD-Garhi Harsaru (GDL), and CFS-Patparganj (PPG).
  • Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.
  • A valid Customs Broker License (Rule 6 / G-Card holder) is a significant advantage.
