Manager - Civil & Structure

Purpose/Objective

To lead the planning, execution, and governance of civil and structural engineering works for setting up of a wire & cables plant, ensuring alignment with global standards, safety protocols, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities of Role

1. Project Planning & Design Oversight - Lead the civil and structural design of manufacturing facilities, utility buildings, cable yards, and associated infrastructure. - Review and validate structural drawings, BOQs, and technical specifications in compliance with IS (Indian Standards), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and global civil codes. - Coordinate with design consultants and internal engineering teams to ensure constructability and cost-effectiveness. 2. Execution & Site Management - Oversee execution of civil works including piling, foundation, superstructure, and utility corridors. - Ensure timely completion of civil packages within budget and quality benchmarks. - Monitor contractor performance, resolve site issues, and ensure adherence to safety and environmental norms. 3. Vendor & Contractor Management - Evaluate and finalize civil contractors and structural consultants through technical and commercial assessments. - Manage contracts, work orders, and billing processes in coordination with procurement and finance teams. - Conduct regular site reviews and audits to ensure compliance with scope and specifications. 4. Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance - Implement quality control systems for civil construction including material testing, workmanship checks, and third-party inspections. - Ensure strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards across all civil activities. - Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any structural or safety deviations. 5. Cross-functional Coordination - Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and Utility teams to ensure seamless integration of civil works with plant systems. - Support the commissioning team in readiness of civil infrastructure for equipment installation and operations 6. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance - Maintain comprehensive documentation including design approvals, inspection reports, and statutory clearances. - Liaise with local authorities for building permits, environmental approvals, and compliance audits. 7. Budgeting & Cost Control - Prepare and manage civil budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving initiatives. - Provide inputs for CAPEX planning and project feasibility studies. 8. Team Leadership & Capability Building - Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and outsourced staff across multiple project sites. - Mentor junior engineers and drive a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Technical Competencies

Proficiency in structural design software (STAAD Pro, AutoCAD, Revit).,Experience in dynamic equipment foundations, RCC/steel structures, and utility infrastructure.,Strong understanding of IS codes, NBC, and international civil engineering standards.,Familiarity with project scheduling tools (Primavera/MS Project).,Thorough understanding and exposure of setting Greenfield Wire & Cable Plant

Qualifications and Experience

Education Qualification:- - B.E./B.Tech – Civil (Preferred from NICMAR). - Project Management Certification Experience:- 12 - 15 years in civil and structural engineering roles and relevant Experience of atleast 6-8 years in the electrical infrastructure or wire and cable industry, with exposure to substation civil works, cable trenching, and industrial foundations.
