Mainframe Security Admin

About The Opportunity

• Administer and maintain mainframe security products (RACF, ACF2, CA TopSecret) and enforce access controls across z/OS LPARs.
• Provision and de-provision user IDs, manage profiles, entitlements, and group-level security to ensure least-privilege access.
• Design, implement and tune security policies, SAF configurations and dataset protections to meet application and operational requirements.
• Support audits and compliance activities (SOX/PCI/ISO), produce evidence, remediate findings and implement preventative controls.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, coordinate with system and application teams for root-cause analysis and remediation.
• Automate repetitive tasks and improve operational runbooks using mainframe scripting and modern tooling; partner with DevOps/ops teams for secure deployments.
  

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• Proven hands-on experience administering RACF, ACF2 or CA TopSecret on IBM z/OS environments.
• Strong understanding of z/OS security architecture, SAF, dataset and USS permissions, and LPAR security boundaries.
• Experience managing user provisioning, role-based access, entitlement reviews and segregation of duties controls.
• Demonstrated support for audits and compliance (SOX, PCI or similar), including log reviews and evidence preparation.
• Scripting/automation experience for mainframe tasks (Rexx, CLIST, JCL) and familiarity with change-control processes.
• Experience integrating mainframe security with enterprise identity stores (LDAP/IDM) and working with cross-functional teams.
  

Preferred

• Familiarity with IBM Security zSecure or other mainframe security tooling for reporting and hardening.
• Experience with mainframe automation or infrastructure-as-code practices and CI/CD integrations.
• Relevant certifications or formal training in IBM/Z security or mainframe administration.
