Job Description

Role Description Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 database software and associated tools on mainframe systems, ensuring compatibility, performance, and security. Create and manage DB2 databases, tablespaces, tables, indexes, and other database objects according to organizational standards and best practices. Perform ongoing database maintenance activities such as backup and recovery, reorganization, space management, and health checks to ensure data integrity and availability. Monitor database performance and resource utilization, proactively identifying and resolving performance issues, tuning SQL queries, and optimizing database parameters. Implement and maintain database security policies, including roles and permissions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and data privacy standards. Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patch installations in alignment with change management processes and business needs. Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support database-related activities including development, testing, and production deployments. Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for database administration tasks, including disaster recovery plans and high availability configurations. Provide technical support and assistance to internal teams and users by troubleshooting and resolving DB2-related issues. Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in Mainframe DB2 administration, and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
