Job Description

As a Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and upgrading DB2 database software and tools on mainframe systems. Your primary focus will be to ensure compatibility, performance, and security of the databases. You will create and manage DB2 databases, tablespaces, tables, indexes, and other database objects according to organizational standards and best practices. Your role will involve performing ongoing database maintenance activities such as backup and recovery, reorganization, space management, and health checks to uphold data integrity and availability. Monitoring database performance and resource utilization will be crucial, as you will proactively identify and resolve performance issues, tune SQL queries, and optimize database parameters. Database security will also be a key aspect of your responsibilities. You will implement and maintain database security policies, including roles and permissions, to ensure compliance with regulatory and data privacy standards. Planning and executing database migrations, upgrades, and patch installations in alignment with change management processes and business needs will be part of your duties. Collaboration with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders is essential to support database-related activities including development, testing, and production deployments. You will also be required to develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and standards for database administration tasks, including disaster recovery plans and high availability configurations. In addition, providing technical support and assistance to internal teams and users by troubleshooting and resolving DB2-related issues will be part of your daily tasks. It is important to stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in Mainframe DB2 administration, and actively contribute to knowledge sharing within the team. Required Experience: - Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe DB2 DBA.
