Job Title: DB2 Azure Migration SME Experience: 6+ Mode of Hire: Contractor Azure DB2 Data Migration SME to lead and drive cloud DB2 data migration initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing data migration strategies from on-premises and other cloud environments to Microsoft Azure . This role requires deep expertise in DB2 Database migration and cloud data governance . Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end data migration projects, ensuring seamless transition to Azure with minimal disruption. Migration and HADR experience specifically on DB2 and SAP environments from on-prem to Azure. Strong hands-on expertise in RHEL + DB2 Migrate and support DB2 database systems ensuring seamless data transfer Experience with DB2 and SAP migration to Azure, with tools like Azure Site Recovery, Azure Database Migration Service, SWPM, and Azure Migrate Assess existing on-premises or cloud data landscapes and develop migration strategies aligned with business goals. Migrate structured and unstructured data from DB2 and other data sources to Azure. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DBAs, data engineers, cloud architects, and security teams , to ensure a successful migration. Perform data validation and reconciliation post-migration to ensure accuracy and completeness. Address performance bottlenecks and implement best practices for Azure database performance tuning . Provide technical expertise on Azure Data Governance, security best practices, and compliance frameworks . Document migration strategies, challenges, and solutions for knowledge sharing and future scalability. Stay up to date with the latest Azure data technologies and recommend improvements for cloud data architectures . Qualifications & Skills Bachelors/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or cloud data solutions, with at least 3+ years focused on Azure DB2 data migration . Strong understanding of database architectures, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning . Experience with Azure Migrate, Data Migration Assistant (DMA), and DB2 third-party data migration tools . Solid understanding of cloud networking, hybrid data connectivity, and security best practices . Familiarity with data governance, GDPR, HIPAA, and other compliance standards . Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot migration challenges and ensure business continuity. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor teams.

Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and upgrade DB2 LUW database software and related tools. Perform database administration tasks including backup/recovery, performance tuning, and capacity planning. Monitor database health and proactively address performance issues. Implement and maintain database security policies and procedures. Support application development teams with database design, query optimization, and troubleshooting. Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell, Python, etc.). Manage database objects (tables, indexes, views, etc.) and ensure data integrity. Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing. Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and standards. Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and support teams to ensure seamless operations. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 5+ years of experience as a DB2 DBA in LUW environments. Strong knowledge of DB2 architecture, utilities, and tools. Experience with HADR, TSA, and other high availability solutions. Proficiency in SQL and performance tuning techniques. Familiarity with Linux/Unix/Windows OS environments. Experience with monitoring tools like IBM Data Studio, Quest Foglight, or similar. Knowledge of scripting languages (Shell, Python, Perl). Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

You will be responsible for Database Object Creation and Maintenance, including creating and altering various DB2 objects such as Tablespaces, Tables, Stored procedures, Indexes, etc. Additionally, you will need to have knowledge and expertise on DB2 utility execution. Your role will involve Data load and migration tasks, such as understanding the data migration process from VSAM to DB2, unloading data from DB2 tables using UNLOAD utility, loading data from files to Tables using LOAD utility, unloading data from Image copy using UNLOAD or other utilities, and migrating data from one environment to another. Database backup and Recovery will be a crucial part of your responsibilities. This includes setting up and maintaining Image Copy and other DB2 housekeeping jobs, as well as being able to recover data from Image Copy using RECOVER utility. You will also manage Database access and security control by following security and audit control procedures to GRANT/REVOKE permissions on database objects, and providing Group level access on DB2 objects to RACF user groups. Supporting the Application team will be a key aspect of your role, which involves monitoring and troubleshooting batch job failures, handling and resolving all DB2 package related consistency token issues, and assisting the application team in resolving performance issues for the SQLs and/or Stored procedures. As part of Performance monitoring and tuning, you will be required to monitor current active and historical threads using DB2 monitoring tools, identify potential bottlenecks and lock contention in the active or historical threads, troubleshoot them, check overall Mainframe CPU utilization using SYSVIEW online panels, and perform SQL tuning by rewriting the SQLs or designing appropriate indexes. This is a Full-time position with benefits such as Paid time off, Provident Fund, and a Yearly bonus.
