Librarian

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the university library.
• Manage cataloging, classification, and organization of books, journals, digital resources, and reference materials.
• Assist students and faculty in locating academic resources, research materials, and references.
• Maintain and update the digital library management system (LMS).
• Supervise issue/return processes, membership records, and library circulation activities.
• Ensure proper storage, preservation, and maintenance of books and learning resources.
• Plan and manage library budget, procurement of new books, journals, and e-resources.
• Conduct library orientations and training for new students and staff.
• Implement and monitor library policies, standards, and compliance guidelines.
• Lead library staff and coordinate activities for smooth operations.
• Organize knowledge sessions, exhibitions, and academic events related to literature and research.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLIS / M.Lib.Sc) or equivalent.
• Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience as a Librarian in a college or university.
• Strong knowledge of library cataloging standards (DDC, AACR2, MARC21).
• Experience working with digital library software and automated systems.
• Excellent organizational, research, and documentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to guide students, support faculty, and manage academic resource queries.
• Familiarity with digital content management, e-journals, and research databases.
