Job Description

Required Qualification: M.Lib.

::- NET or SLET/SET (Desirable)

Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.

Skills Required (Librarian – B.Ed. / D. El. Ed College)

· Strong knowledge of library management systems, cataloguing, and classification methods.

· Ability to manage physical and digital libraries efficiently.

· Good understanding of teacher education curriculum (NCTE norms, B.Ed. syllabus, reference requirements).

· Proficiency in computer applications: MS Office, Library Management Software (Koha Software), Internet Search, e-Resources, e- journals resources.

· Excellent communication, record-keeping, and documentation skills.

· Ability to assist students and faculty in research, referencing, and academic resource collection.

· Knowledge of e-journals, e-books, academic databases and ability to maintain digital resource access.

· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain a disciplined library environment.

· Ability to prepare library reports, statistics, annual library plans, etc

· Capability to coordinate with staff for library audits, stock verification, and upgradation of resources.

Job Roles & Responsibilities (Librarian – B.Ed. College)

v Library Management

ü Oversee the day-to-day operations of the college library in accordance with NCTE and University guidelines.

ü Maintain an updated catalogue of books, journals, reference materials, teaching-learning resources, and digital content.

ü Ensure proper issue/return system, maintenance of accession registers, stock registers, and visitor logs.

Resource Development

v Identify, recommend, and procure new books, journals, and e-resources related to B.Ed., D.El.Ed. teacher education, psychology, pedagogy, etc.

v Maintain question bank, previous year papers, and study materials for students.

Student & Faculty Support

v Assist students in locating reference materials, research books, e-resources, and teaching aids.

v Provide orientation to new students on library rules, resource usage, and digital library access.

v Support faculty in preparing lesson plans, teaching materials, and academic research.

Documentation & Reporting

v Prepare monthly/annual reports on library usage, new additions, and resource development.

v Maintain stock verification records, damaged book reports, and audit documentation.

v Ensure compliance with NCTE norms and inspection requirements.

Digital Library & ICT Integration

v Manage e-library, online databases, and maintain access to digital educational platforms.

v Update library notices, digital resources list, and circulate academic updates electronically.

General Responsibilities

v Maintain a peaceful, academic environment in the library.

v Ensure the preservation, binding, repair, and safe storage of books.

v Coordinate during NCTE, University, and other inspection visits

v Perform any additional academic or administrative tasks assigned by the Principal/Management.

Salary: As per NCTE norms
