Lease Accountant

As a Lease Accountant at Altius, you will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of lease accounting in compliance with IFRS 116 and other applicable standards. Your responsibilities will include: - Record and maintain lease transactions following IFRS 116 and company policies. - Prepare journal entries for lease-related activities such as straight-line rent, contingent rent, and asset retirement obligations. - Ensure compliance with internal controls and external audit requirements. In terms of financial reporting, you will: - Prepare quarterly and annual reports related to lease obligations and disclosures. - Perform account reconciliations for lease-related general ledger accounts. - Support month-end and year-end close processes. For lease administration, you will: - Review and abstract lease agreements, amendments, and terminations. - Maintain master lease files and ensure accurate data entry in lease management systems. - Coordinate with landlords, vendors, and internal departments for lease-related matters. In terms of analysis and support, your responsibilities will include: - Performing variance analysis on lease expenses and rental income. - Assisting in budgeting and forecasting lease-related costs. - Providing ad-hoc reporting and analysis for management. Qualifications: Education: - Qualified Chartered Accountant - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) Experience: - 13 years of accounting experience (lease accounting experience is preferable) Skills: - Strong knowledge of IFRS and IGAAP and lease accounting standards. - Proficiency in Excel and accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft). - Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
