Job Description

Job Title: Learning & Development (L&D) Professional

Department:

Job Summary

The Learning & Development Professional will be responsible for assessing training needs, designing and delivering training programs, and implementing capability-building initiatives for all levels of employees in the manufacturing environment. The role ensures workforce skill enhancement, compliance training, safety training, and competency development aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Need Identification (TNI)

  • Conduct training needs analysis across production, quality, maintenance, EHS, logistics, and support functions.
  • Coordinate with HODs to identify skill gaps and technical training requirements.
  • Analyse performance data, audits, NCRs, and employee feedback to define annual training plans.

2. Training Design & Delivery

  • Develop training modules for technical, behavioral, functional, and statutory requirements.
  • Facilitate training sessions on soft skills, supervisory skills, leadership, and job-specific competencies.
  • Ensure all statutory training (EHS, Fire Safety, Machine Handling, ISO, GMP, 5S, Kaizen, etc.) is covered.

3. Vendor Management

  • Identify and manage external training partners, technical institutes, safety trainers, and consultants.
  • Evaluate training quality, effectiveness, and ROI from vendors.

4. Induction & Onboarding

  • Design and implement structured induction programs for new employees, trainees, and contract workers.
  • Coordinate with plant teams to ensure seamless onboarding and mandatory safety orientation.

5. Skill Development & Certification

  • Manage skill-matrix mapping for operators and technicians.
  • Conduct assessments and certification programs (e.g., machine operation, QC basics, SOP compliance).

6. Training Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain training calendars, attendance, and records as per ISO/TS/OSHA/Quality compliance requirements.
  • Support audit teams with training evidence, competency records, and documentation.

7. Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Implement and manage LMS platforms for e-learning, microlearning, and compliance training.
  • Track training completion and generate MIS reports.

8. Continuous Improvement

  • Promote Kaizen, 5S, Lean, and other productivity initiatives through employee engagement.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness using feedback, assessments, and impact analysis.

9. Employee Engagement & Development Programs

  • Run initiatives like OJT (On-the-Job Training), mentoring, leadership development, and career progression programs.
  • Conduct communication workshops, team-building activities, and welfare-oriented training.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing environment, shopfloor training, and technical processes.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and shopfloor employees.
  • Understanding of ISO standards, EHS norms, quality systems, and statutory training requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office, LMS tools, and training software.
  • Analytical mindset for training needs identification and evaluation.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree

    in HR, Industrial Psychology, Engineering, or related field.
  • 26 years

    of experience in L&D, preferably in manufacturing/industrial plants.
  • Certifications in

    Training & Development, Instructional Design, Lean/Kaizen, or Behavioral Training

    will be an added advantage.
