Lead Safety

Purpose/Objective

The Head - Safety-Tx is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight of occupational health and safety (OHS) management across all project and operations & maintenance (O&M) sites within the Transmission Business. This includes establishing benchmark safety standards, streamlining safety systems, and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice, and industry best practices. The role drives continuous improvement in safety performance through the implementation of robust safety management systems and processes, ensuring safe project execution and O&M operations while fostering a culture of safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Head - Safety-Tx Strategic Safety Leadership: Strengthen safety risk management by integrating structured safety strategies, analyzing performance trends, and implementing targeted corrective actions to minimize incidents. Optimize resource allocation by forecasting safety expenditures and aligning budgets with operational priorities to ensure cost-effective safety measures. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance and audit readiness by proactively resolving safety non-conformities, conducting audits, and ensuring 100% closure of identified risks. Promote long-term incident prevention by conducting root cause analysis (RCA), tracking corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and integrating emergency response plans to strengthen crisis preparedness. Operational Excellence in Safety Management: Achieve Zero Harm & Zero Leak by deploying safety processes, implementing proactive risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring real-time monitoring. Strengthen workforce safety by ensuring 100% PPE compliance, conducting structured training, and eliminating unsafe practices through proactive interventions. Increase workforce engagement by driving safety awareness through campaigns like safety week and fire service week. Stakeholder & Contractor Management: Enhance contractor safety alignment by enforcing structured engagement programs, leading safety meetings, and addressing deviations from safety protocols. Strengthen regulatory partnerships by collaborating with industry bodies and government agencies to adapt to evolving safety requirements. Team Management: Embed a proactive safety culture by mentoring teams, fostering risk awareness, and reinforcing safety-conscious behaviors. Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualification: BE / Diploma / B.Sc. and PG Diploma in Industrial Safety Work Experience (Range of years): 15-20 years’ experience of working in fire Safety functions in large size power plants including transmission in O&M and project. At least two years of experience in corporate office of transmission / power business. Conduct safety inspections and assessment in project & operational locations of transmission set up pan India. Monitor the implementation level, follow up and get execution at site with line function. Be a resource person / facilitate for safe project and O&M of transmission.
