Lead Phenol Trading - (Deepak Phenolics Ltd)

Job Summary

This position will be responsible for overseeing the trading operations of chemical products. This strategic role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of the domestic and international chemical markets, producers and suppliers, strong customer connect and leadership skills, and a proven track record in sales/marketing, trading, customer acquisition and business development. The ideal candidate will drive growth, optimize trading strategies, and ensure the company's preparedness for future capacity creation in traded products.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning and Execution:

• Develop and implement strategic trading plans aligned with the company's overall business objectives and long term capacity creation plans.
• Identify key suppliers and customers, and capitalize on market opportunities to expand trading operations and increase market share.
• To achieve 30% market capture of products of interest to Deepak Group over a 3 year period

• Market Analysis and Intelligence:

• Conduct thorough market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and market demands.
• Utilize market intelligence to make informed trading decisions and forecasts.

• Trading Operations:

• Oversee daily trading activities, including procurement, sales, and logistics of chemical products.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Work within a pre-set exposure limit set by the Company and publish weekly / monthly net open positions and exposure.
• Ensure customer wise exposure as per their credit limits.
• Ideally, work towards negative working capital for trading operations.

• Relationship Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, customers, and stakeholders.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.

• Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing trading team.
• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.

• Financial Management:

• Monitor trading budgets, financial performance, and profitability.
• Implement cost-effective strategies to optimize trading margins.

• Risk Management:

• Identify and mitigate risks associated with trading activities.
• Ensure robust risk management practices are in place.

  Role & responsibilities

Preferred candidate profile

• Education:

• Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred.

• Experience:

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in chemical trading, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
