Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Purpose:

• Allegion India is seeking a highly motivated team lead to lead projects and people in the Engineered to Order group.
• Responsibilities would include but not limited to: Technical Leadership of drafting engineers; Technical mentoring of engineers and senior engineers; Interface with management, have technical project oversight responsibilities beyond the engineering role; and maintain partnerships & visibility across the organization; Lead drawing reviews; Process development/Enhancement.

Key Accountabilities:

• Lead the ETO drafting activities of the team at Bangalore with good technical oversight to execute new, revision and fabrication drawings for glass doors and windows
• Displaying excellent knowledge of drafting principles. Should have a growth mindset, keen on expanding and developing expertise of self and team
• Must be able to analyze the drawing requirements per the product guidelines, estimate the effort required for each drawing, assign to individual engineers and self, guide the engineers technically to deliver
• Proactively seek and assess the quality of work from engineers, mentor technically where required, be accountable to quality and schedule
• Continuously propose and drive improvement opportunities within the drafting team in practices and procedures to reduce defects and improve first time right drawings
• Constant networking with peers across product categories and areas of expertise. Draw parallels, applicable technologies from other products and markets to further the product roadmap

Job Specification:Job Knowledge/Technical Skills/Qualifications

• Must be a BE/ BTech in mechanical engineering at a minimum from a reputed university
• 12+ years of experience in mechanical drafting of extruded aluminum and sheet metal components using AutoCAD. Experience of using Creo and Inventor is a plus
• Must have prior experience in managing a team of CAD engineers
• Good understanding of fabrication process of doors and frames made from aluminum extrusions and drafting standards followed for the same. Knowledge of design and fabrication process of steel doors is a plus
• Expertise in quality check of drawings, establishing, using and continuously improving the drafting guidelines and processes.
• Familiarity of drafting automation methods and tools like V6 and Experlogix.
• Expertise in creating and reviewing engineering and production drawings in line with identified operations capabilities. An expert in GD&T, must be able to develop complex tolerance stack-up studies for critical assembly interfaces
• Good knowledge of FEA process, ability to propose FEA test cases in place of physical testing
