Job Title: Lead, Circular Fashion
Overview: Chintan is a non-profit Circular Society Do-Tank that improves the lives, livelihoods and leadership of the people who contribute the least to environmental pollution and climate change while combating the excessive and inequitable consumption that causes it. Chintan’s actions are rooted in inclusive, science-based policy and research to identify challenges and advocate for changes both within and outside the government. Chintan works to identify intersectional needs and amplify relevant voices.
Chintan is seeking a committed and experienced professional to lead its work on sustainable fashion, specifically in setting up and managing a Textile Recovery Facility (TRF). This role requires a blend of operational management, innovation, and an understanding of sustainable fashion practices. The Lead will play a critical role in enabling textile segregation, recovery, thrifting, and upcycling as part of a larger circular economy initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
• Set up the Textile Recovery Facility (TRF): Lead the establishment of a small-scale TRF, including space setup, equipment identification, and workflow design.
• Develop SOPs: Identify and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient, ethical, and high-quality textile recovery and upcycling processes.
• Operations Oversight: Supervise the day-to-day operations of the TRF, managed by a dedicated staff member. Ensure effective sorting, processing, and material flow.
• Design Collaboration: Work closely with a designated designer to develop product samples. Oversee quality control and provide actionable feedback to enhance product output.
• Sustainability & Innovation: Innovate to improve the environmental and financial sustainability of the TRF. Identify opportunities for efficiency, scale, and revenue generation. • Thrifting Initiatives: Collaborate with the Director to conceptualize and implement second-hand clothing/thrifting initiatives under the Chintan umbrella.
• Representation & Advocacy: Represent Chintan at relevant forums, events, and discussions related to sustainable fashion, textile waste, and circular economy practices.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree; Master's degree is a plus
● Experience in social enterprises, micro-enterprises and in business management, or education in a fashion or garment export field.
● No less than 2 years of proven experience in operations related to waste, textiles or any other materials.
Skills :
● Self-motivated and driven
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions and solve complex problems.
● Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. Location: Delhi NCR
