Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Maintenance Engineer - Kiln is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and maintaining Kiln equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role executes preventive maintenance, supports shutdowns, manages spare parts, and adheres to safety standards. By contributing to continuous improvement efforts, the role enhances equipment availability and aligns maintenance activities with production goals.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Equipment Inspection & Monitoring: Conduct regular inspections of Kiln equipment, utilizing walk-by inspection tools to identify potential issues and ensure optimal operating conditions. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for Kiln operations, taking proactive measures to address deviations from expected performance. Preventive Maintenance Execution: Execute preventive maintenance requests (PMRs) in coordination with the Maintenance and Kiln Production teams, ensuring timely and effective maintenance of all Kiln-related equipment. Ensure adherence to the preventive maintenance schedule, focusing on key components such as tip casting, gearboxes, and supporting rollers. Reliability & Availability Management: Work towards achieving high net availability of the Kiln by managing the reliability of equipment, minimizing downtime, and extending the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). Collaborate with the Section Head - Kiln to implement strategies aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and optimizing plant availability. Shutdown Support & Execution: Provide technical support during Kiln shutdowns, ensuring the proper alignment of gearboxes, replacement of dip tubes, and upkeep of supporting rollers. Participate in the planning and execution of major and minor shutdowns, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and within the scheduled timeframe. Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, including the implementation of LOTOTO procedures during equipment stoppages, to ensure a safe working environment. Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with the company’s health and safety standards, contributing to the achievement of the company’s safety targets. Spare Parts Management: Assist in managing the inventory of spare parts for Kiln maintenance, ensuring the availability of critical components while minimizing excess stock. Coordinate with the Preventive Maintenance Planner to ensure that required spare parts are available for scheduled maintenance activities. Continuous Improvement & Best Practices: Contribute to the continuous improvement of Kiln maintenance practices by providing feedback on equipment performance and suggesting process enhancements. Participate in the implementation of best practices in Kiln maintenance, focusing on reducing operational costs and improving equipment efficiency. Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily inspections, maintenance activities, and equipment performance, ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible. Prepare and submit reports on maintenance activities, including details on completed tasks, equipment reliability, and any issues encountered during maintenance. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Kiln Production team to ensure that maintenance activities align with production schedules and do not disrupt operations. Communicate effectively with the Section Head - Kiln and other stakeholders, providing updates on maintenance progress and any potential challenges. Key Stakeholders - Internal: Section Head - Kiln and Coal Mills (Mechanical) Mechanical Maintenance Head Kiln Production Team Preventive Maintenance Mechanical Planner Key Stakeholders - External: Vendors and Suppliers

Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: BE in Mechanical Engineering. Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance, with a focus on kiln operations in the cement or heavy manufacturing industry. Industry Knowledge: Proficient in kiln maintenance practices and preventive maintenance techniques, with experience in supporting shutdowns and improving equipment reliability.
