Job Description

JD Junior Safety Officer Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities of Safety Officer:

1.

  • Conduct regular

    Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)

    .
  • Develop and implement risk control measures.
  • Ensure Job Safety Analysis (JSA)/Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is done for critical tasks.

2.

  • Perform regular safety inspections of work areas, equipment, and machinery.
  • Organize internal safety audits and facilitate external audits (statutory, ISO 45001, client).
  • Ensure compliance with 5S, LOTO, and other safety standards.

3.

  • Conduct safety induction for new employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Organize periodic safety training (e.g., fire safety, first aid, electrical safety, working at heights).
  • Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks, posters, and campaigns (e.g., National Safety Week).

4.

  • Investigate near misses, accidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Prepare incident reports and identify root causes using tools like 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.

5.

  • Ensure emergency response plans are in place and regularly updated.
  • Conduct mock drills (fire, chemical spill, evacuation).
  • Maintain emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, alarms).

6.

  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and PPE records.
  • Ensure proper documentation of safety observations, audits, and inspections.
  • Submit monthly safety performance reports (incident rates, training, compliance status).

7.

  • Ensure contractors follow site safety rules.
  • Review contractor safety documents (SOPs, risk assessments, work permits).
  • Monitor and control high-risk activities (e.g., hot work, confined space entry).

8.

  • Act as a secretary or member of the internal safety committee.
  • Organize periodic safety committee meetings.
  • Track and follow up on safety actions from meetings.

9.

  • Suggest and implement safety improvements through observations and feedback.
  • Benchmark safety practices with industry standards.
  • Drive initiatives to reduce unsafe conditions and behaviours.

Additional Responsibilities (if applicable):

  • Environmental compliance (air, water, waste management).
  • Health monitoring (ergonomics, occupational health).
  • Support in ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 certification and compliance.
