Advertisement for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position in Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) funded project

Applications are invited for a position of JRF (Junior Research Fellow) in a new research project sponsored by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in the field of Cryogenic engineering. [Prior knowledge of Cryogenic engineering is not required].

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Project Title: Indigenous development of 2-stage pulse tube cryo-refrigerator for cryopump.

Department: Mechanical Engineering

Project Tenure: 36 Months. The position is temporary and coterminous with the project. Continuation of fellowship dependent on satisfactory academic performance at all stages.

Job Description:

• Carrying out research and development in the area of closed cycle cryocoolers involving design, fabrication, and testing of cooling devices (components and systems), under the supervision of CGU faculty,
• Carrying out mathematical analysis and numerical modelling of closed cycle cryocoolers,
• Development of design software for cryogenic refrigerators using Python code and aesthetic GUI.

Essential Qualification:

• M.Tech/ B.Tech or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with Minimum 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA) in both B Tech and M Tech.
• A good GATE/ NET score any time in career, and degrees from top institutes (top 100 institutions as per NIRF ranking) will get preference.
• M Tech in cryogenic engineering or in thermal engineering with project work done in the field of cryogenics or refrigeration engineering will be given preference.
• The applicant is expected to be proficient in engineering fundamentals mathematics, physics, basic electrical and electronic engineering, rigid body mechanics, solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, engineering drawing.

Age Limit: 35 years as on last date (Relaxation will be given for reserved category asper norms)

Emoluments: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)- Rs 37,000/- per month (Consolidated) + HRA according to norms of the funding agency as well as that of the university, if hostel room is not made available by the university.

GENERAL INFORMATION / DETAILS ABOUT THE FELLOWSHIP

1. The appointment is purely temporary and will terminate automatically without any notice or compensation on termination of the research project.

2. The appointed person shall have no claim of appointment/absorption in the funding Agency or in CGU Bhubaneswar.

3. The qualification prescribed should have been obtained from recognized Universities / Institutions.

4. The prescribed educational qualifications are the bare minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for an interview. Where the number of applications received in response to this advertisement is large, it will not be convenient or possible to interview all the candidates. Based on the recommendations of the Screening Committee, the PI may restrict the number of candidates for the interview to a reasonable limit after taking into consideration the qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Therefore, it will be in the interest of the candidates, to mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field at the time of applying.

5. No TA/DA will be admissible for appearing for the interview.

6. Selected candidates will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer.

7. No interim enquiries/correspondence / communication of any sort will be entertained on the matter.

8. Canvassing in any form and / or bringing any influence, political, or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification for the post applied for.

9. Candidates selected for this position can also apply for the PhD program of CGU Bhubaneswar, subject to fulfillment of the eligibility criteria.

Note: The initial appointment shall be till 31st March 2026 which will be extended on yearly basis subject to satisfactory performance in each year, till validity of the project period or a total duration of 3 years whichever comes earlier. After successful completion of 2 years, candidate may be promoted to SRF (Senior Research Fellow) based on the performance and recommendation of a competent committee..
