Junior Estimator

You will be responsible for obtaining, calculating, and compiling data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates, preparing routine estimates under general supervision. Your key responsibilities will include: - Ensuring that all quantity surveys and pricing are accurate and complete - Providing support for the development of bidding strategies by debriefing the salesperson of job elements - Leading the documentation management of the project and ensuring all documents are complete and clearly convey decisions made to sales and operations teams - Attending pre-bid meetings to discuss project specifics and scope - Participating in bid closings and estimate reviews - Balancing workload and assignments to meet deadlines - Developing a value analysis study by defining alternatives to the proposed scope that are more cost-efficient - Managing action items from Post Bid and finalizing scope - Computing cost estimates for materials, purchased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor In addition, you may be required to perform other duties as necessary. Preferred Qualifications: Education/Experience: - Bachelor's degree in a related field - Other degrees are also acceptable if the person is keen and talented - 0-2 years of experience in a related field Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Bids are accurate and profitable - Must be available on some days to work and take customer calls during night hours to accommodate U.S.-based clients (up to 10 PM local time) - Good proficiency in English, including reading, writing, and verbal communication, to effectively engage with customers and team members - Basic knowledge of lab products, services, processes, and projects - Understands project plans and specifications - Independently performs most assignments with instruction - Seeks guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards - Open to feedback and flexible to change - Proficient in MS Office Suite - Strong prioritization and organizational skills, detail-oriented - Prior experience in Estimation or BOQ preparation is an added advantage This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule. You must be able to reliably commute or plan to relocate to Chennai, Tamil Nadu before starting work. Additionally, you are required to have a Diploma and preferably 1 year of experience in Estimating/BOQ preparation.
