Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop JSR-168/286-compliant portlets using Java/J2EE
• Build reusable portlet components supporting multiple pages and content types
• Integrate portlets with backend APIs, WCM content, and external systems
• Customize portlet preferences, session handling, and inter-portlet communication
• Apply personalization, caching, and user role restrictions in portlets
• Work closely with portal architects to standardize reusable frameworks
• Collaborate on testing and deployment with DevOps and QA teams
• Resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and interface issues
  

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years of experience in JSR-168/286 portlet development
• Strong understanding of HCL DX or IBM WebSphere Portal platform
• Solid background in Java, JSP, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX
• Experience integrating portlets with RESTful and SOAP APIs
• Understanding of session management, personalization, and user context in DX
• Familiarity with WCM structures and API access
• Experience with WebSphere Application Server (WAS)
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience in migrating legacy portlets to newer DX versions
• Exposure to frontend frameworks (React, Angular) for hybrid portlets
• Familiarity with SSO, LDAP, and DX security best practices
• Experience with DevOps automation and CI/CD pipelines
