Roles and responsibilities

Project leadership and management

• Lead the entire software development lifecycle for Java-based applications, from requirements gathering to deployment.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, business analysts, and development teams.
• Drive and enforce Agile and Scrum methodologies, facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure efficient delivery.
• Create and maintain project documentation, such as scope, objectives, technical requirements, and status reports.

Technical guidance and oversight

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the development team, helping to resolve complex technical challenges and remove impediments.
• Ensure that technical teams follow best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
• Conduct or facilitate regular code reviews to ensure code quality, efficiency, and scalability.
• Possess a strong understanding of technical architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps best practices within the Java context.
• Step in with hands-on coding (e.g., 3040% involvement) when needed, particularly to assist the team, build proof-of-concepts, or resolve critical issues.

Team and communication management

• Foster a collaborative, positive, and productive work environment for the development team.
• Effectively communicate project status, risks, and technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and relationships, ensuring project objectives align with business goals.
• Act as a liaison between the development team and other cross-functional teams, such as QA, product management, and operations.

Required skills and qualifications

Technical expertise

• Java and ecosystem:

  Strong, hands-on experience with Core Java and related technologies like Spring (Core, MVC, Spring Boot), Hibernate, and J2EE.

• Web technologies:

  Experience building RESTful web services and working with front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML5, Angular) is often required for full-stack projects.

• Architecture:

  Deep understanding of microservices architecture and object-oriented design principles.

• DevOps:

  Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Maven, Git, Jenkins) and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Databases:

  Experience with both relational and non-relational databases.

Project management competencies
