IT Asset Manager (CMDB Specialist)

Job Summary: The IT Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of all IT assets within the organization, ensuring accurate tracking, compliance, and optimization. This role requires deep expertise in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) practices to maintain data integrity and support IT Service Management (ITSM) processes. Key Responsibilities: Asset Lifecycle Management: Track and manage IT assets from procurement to retirement. Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and virtual assets. CMDB Management: Ensure the CMDB is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with ITIL best practices. Define and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and relationships between Configuration Items (CIs). Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure CMDB supports incident, problem, change, and release management. Governance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with software licensing agreements and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of asset data. Process Improvement: Develop and refine asset management and CMDB processes. Implement automation and integration with discovery tools and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, SD plus ). Reporting & Analytics: Generate reports on asset utilization, lifecycle status, and compliance. Provide insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in IT Asset Management and CMDB administration. Strong knowledge of ITIL framework, especially Configuration and Asset Management. Hands-on experience with CMDB tools (e.g., ServiceNow, SD plus, Ivanti). Familiarity with discovery tools and integration techniques. Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), or Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) are a plus. Preferred Background: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in IT asset and configuration management roles. Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.
