As a Research Analyst at Piper Serica, your responsibilities will include conducting thorough research on startups seeking capital, analyzing their technology, business models, financials, and competitive positioning. You will be expected to develop investment theses, prepare high-quality research notes, and delve into industry and market research using global and domestic data sources. Monitoring early-stage deals, funding trends, and engaging directly with founders for market diligence will be essential aspects of your role. Collaborating with legal counsel for deal structuring and documentation, maintaining relationships with portfolio companies, tracking performance, and expanding industry networks are key components of this position. The ideal candidate for this role will possess extensive reading habits and a passion for in-depth research, particularly in emerging areas of technology and business. We are looking for individuals with a unique blend of leadership, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Apart from functional duties, you will be required to interact with investors and market participants on behalf of portfolio companies, contribute strategic insights, and uphold a high level of professionalism in all engagements. Qualifications for this position include a graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, or startup ecosystem roles. Postgraduates or CFA candidates are preferred but not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate self-driven multitasking abilities, strong industry research skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as discretion in handling confidential information.
