About Piper Serica- Piper Serica is a long-only active equity asset manager that employs various equity investment strategies in India. We manage multiple funds that invest in Indian listed companies for domestic and foreign individuals and institutions. We also manage a fund that invests in Indian startups that are building business models based on deep tech. We have been investing in Indian companies for 20+ years and have a very solid understanding of how to succeed while investing in India, navigating through various risks, most of them unique to India as an emerging market. Responsibilities- Conduct detailed research on startups raising capital, including analysis of their technology, business models, financials, and competitive positioning. Build investment theses and prepare high-quality research notes. Perform in-depth industry and market research using global and domestic data sources, including mapping the entire value chain and identifying key participants. Track early-stage deals, funding trends, and transaction benchmarks across the startup ecosystem. Engage directly with founders to conduct commercial and market diligence. Liaise with legal counsel to support deal structuring, documentation, and closure processes. Maintain strong relationships with Piper Sericas portfolio company leadership to monitor progress and provide ongoing support. Track portfolio performance and prepare notes and reports. Proactively build and expand a network of industry participants across Piper Sericas areas of coverage. Essentials- Extensive reading and conduct in-depth research regularly. Curiosity to explore emerging areas of technology and business. Personal Attributes- We seek candidates with a unique blend of leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills. In addition to functional responsibilities, the candidate is expected to act as a key engagement point with investors and other market participants for portfolio companies. The ideal candidate will take ownership of research, contribute strategic insights, and represent the firm with professionalism across internal and external forums. Qualifications Graduate with 2+ years of experience in venture capital, investment banking, or startup ecosystem roles. (Postgraduates or CFA candidates preferred but not mandatory.) Self-driven multitasker, capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong industry research skills, including primary (on-ground) research capabilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills (mandatory). High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information. Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Team-oriented, resilient, and deeply passionate about long-term investing. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel is essential.
