Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Provide L2 support for international roaming operations, including troubleshooting and resolving roaming-related issues (e. g. , SS7, Diameter, GTP, SIP).
Manage and configure roaming systems, including steering of roaming, IPX/GRX, and signaling traffic.
Perform roaming tests (e. g. , IR. 21, IR. 35, IR. 50, IR. 60) and maintain quality assurance programs using tools like SIGOS, RIS, and Total Visibility.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for roaming faults and ensure compliance with SLAs and roaming agreements.
Liaise with roaming partners, vendors, and internal teams to resolve incidents and coordinate escalations.
Support change management, capacity planning, and implementation of roaming services.
Monitor performance KPIs, track operational metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Document incidents, configurations, and resolutions; maintain knowledge base and operational procedures.
Provide coaching and guidance to junior team members and support knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in international roaming, telecom core networks, or related L2 support roles.
Proficiency with roaming protocols and technologies such as SS7, Diameter, GTP, SIP, LTE, VoLTE, and 2G/3G/4G/5G systems.
Familiarity with GSMA IREG test cases and roaming quality tools (e. g. , SIGOS, RIS).
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and coordination abilities, including stakeholder and partner engagement.

Must-Have Skills:

Core International Roaming Expertise:

Deep understanding of roaming protocols: SS7, SIGTRAN, Diameter, GTP.

Expertise in 2G, 3G, 4G (LTE), and 5G roaming architectures and signaling.

Knowledge of roaming services: Voice (VoLTE, CSFB), Data, SMS, VAS.

Familiarity with roaming agreements (IOT, TADIG) and commercial aspects.

Awareness of roaming fraud prevention techniques.

Quality Control Monitoring Expertise:

Ability to define, track, and analyze international roaming KPIs.
Strong skills in performance troubleshooting and root cause analysis across network elements.
Proficiency with signaling traces and packet analysis tools.
Experience in creating clear, actionable reports and monitoring dashboards.
Ability to set up and manage proactive monitoring and alerting systems.

IREG (International Roaming Expert Group) Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of IREG testing methodologies and best practices.
Ability to design and execute comprehensive IREG test plans for new partners/services (2G/3G, 4G VoLTE, 5G).
Familiarity with IREG testing platforms and simulators.
Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving IREG issues.
Ability to produce detailed IREG test reports and ensure certification.

Operations Expertise:

Proven experience in managing and resolving roaming-related incidents (ITIL principles).

Ability to plan, implement, and verify changes to roaming configurations.

Experience in interacting with and managing roaming vendors.

Strong focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.

Ability to create and maintain comprehensive operational documentation (MOPs, SOPs).

Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with internal and external partners.

General / Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Exceptional attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic project management fundamentals (prioritization, deadlines).

Adaptability and learning agility for evolving technologies (e. g. , 5G, IoT).
