Job Role For Modular Kitchen and Wardrobe Designer

A Modular Kitchen and Wardrobe Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and detailing functional and aesthetic modular furniture solutions for residential and commercial interiors. The designer works closely with clients, production teams, and site staff to deliver customized kitchens, wardrobes, and storage systems that meet design, quality, and budget expectations.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation:
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, lifestyle, design preferences, and space utilization goals.
  • Conduct site visits and take precise measurements.
  • Design Development:
  • Create conceptual layouts, detailed 2D drawings, and 3D visualizations for kitchens and wardrobes.
  • Optimize designs for functionality, ergonomics, and aesthetics.
  • Suggest suitable materials, finishes, fittings, and accessories based on client requirements and budget.
  • Technical Detailing:
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing and installation.
  • Ensure all designs comply with space planning, safety, and modular system standards.
  • Coordination & Execution:
  • Liaise with production, procurement, and installation teams to ensure design accuracy.
  • Supervise site installations and resolve on-site issues, if any.
  • Costing & Documentation:
  • Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), cost estimates, and quotations.
  • Maintain design files, client records, and project timelines.
  • Quality & Innovation:
  • Stay updated with the latest materials, finishes, hardware, and modular furniture trends.
  • Ensure designs balance innovation, durability, and practicality.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of modular furniture systems and design principles.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, or similar).
  • Understanding of materials, hardware, and modular production processes.
  • Excellent visualization, creativity, and space planning skills.
  • Good communication and client-interaction abilities.
  • Attention to detail and time management.

Educational Qualification:

  • Diploma/Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1–5 years of experience in modular kitchen and wardrobe design.
