Role Objective:

To lead and manage the Industrial Relations (IR) and employee relations strategy across all plants in Haryana, ensuring harmonious and productive relations between management, workforce, and unions. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining industrial peace, compliance with labor laws, managing union negotiations, and promoting a culture of engagement and discipline across the plants.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Industrial Relations Management

  • Develop and implement robust IR strategies to maintain a stable and peaceful industrial environment across all plants.
  • Build and sustain healthy relations with unions, workmen representatives, and government authorities.
  • Lead collective bargaining and wage negotiations with unions and facilitate long-term settlements.
  • Handle grievances, disciplinary proceedings, and domestic inquiries in accordance with statutory norms and company policies.
  • Anticipate potential IR issues and proactively implement preventive measures.

2. Legal & Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws (Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Contract Labour Act, etc.) across all locations.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities (Labour Department, Factory Inspector, PF, ESIC, etc.) and ensure timely submissions and inspections.
  • Keep management updated on legal changes and implications on plant operations.
  • Represent the company in labor court and conciliation proceedings, where necessary.

3. Union & Workforce Engagement

  • Foster open communication channels with union leaders and employee representatives.
  • Conduct regular meetings with workmen and unions to address concerns and improve engagement.
  • Develop initiatives for improving employee morale, productivity, and retention at the shop-floor level.

4. Contract Labour & Vendor Management

  • Oversee the management of contract workforce, ensuring compliance by contractors.
  • Monitor and audit vendor compliance under labor and safety regulations.

5. Policy Formulation & Implementation

  • Formulate IR and HR policies related to discipline, grievance handling, code of conduct, and workforce management.
  • Standardize policies and practices across all plants.

6. Training & Development

  • Conduct training sessions for managers and supervisors on labor laws, discipline, and grievance handling.
  • Build IR capability within the HR teams at plant level.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • In-depth understanding of labor laws, industrial disputes, and union dynamics.
  • Proven experience in managing multi-union and multi-plant environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across levels.
  • Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Educational Qualification:

  • Master’s Degree in HR / Personnel Management / Industrial Relations / MSW / MBA (HR).
  • Additional legal qualification (LLB) preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • 22-28 years in IR, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing multiple plants.
  • Prior experience in a

    Tier-1 automotive components manufacturing setup

    (preferably unionized) in

    North India
