Industrial Design Intern

Job Description - We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Intern with a strong foundation in mechanical systems, 3D modeling, and engineering analysis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical components and assemblies, contributing to the development of innovative and high-performance products. This role demands proficiency in CAD tools, a solid understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities - Mechanical Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain mechanical components and assemblies using industry-standard CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, and Fusion 360, ANSYS. Analyze and test existing products to identify areas for improvement. Ensure all product designs comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards. Assist in developing and building prototypes for functionality testing. 3D Modeling & Drafting: Generate detailed 3D models and 2D drawings with accurate GD&T annotations to ensure precise fabrication and assembly. Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including CAD models, engineering change notes, BOMs, and assembly guides. Materials & Manufacturing: Select appropriate materials and design for manufacturability (DFM), considering processes like CNC machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication. Qualification & Experience - Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechatronics / Automotive Engineering. Minimum 0–2 years of experience in the mechanical design domain (internships and industrial projects will be considered). Additional good to have skills [Any] - Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as Abaqus, or COMSOL Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters) Understanding of electronics packaging and integration in electromechanical systems Experience in design optimization and cost reduction strategies Exposure to Agile or other product development methodologies Show more Show less
