The Gurukul Foundation School is a CBSE-affiliated K-12 institution located in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. We have two campuses – one dedicated to Early Years and Elementary (Pre-Nursery to Grade 3) and the other for Senior Grades (Grade 4 to Grade 12). Position Summary
The Head Mistress of the Elementary School serves as the academic and administrative leader for Pre-Nursery to Grade 3. This role is responsible for creating a stimulating and inclusive environment that supports the developmental needs of early learners. The Head Mistress will oversee curriculum implementation, teacher mentoring, student welfare, and operational management to ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and care.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Academic Leadership

  • Implement the school’s curriculum and pedagogy aligned with CBSE guidelines and the Gurukul philosophy for early years.
  • Develop and monitor academic plans, lesson designs, and age-appropriate teaching aids.
  • Drive excellence in foundational literacy, numeracy, motor skills, and life skills through play-based and experiential learning.
  • Review and improve teaching-learning processes through classroom observations and feedback sessions.

2. Staff Management and Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of elementary school teachers, assistant teachers, and support staff.
  • Plan and conduct professional development workshops and training programs for teachers focused on early childhood education best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and empathy among staff.

3. Student Care and Discipline

  • Ensure a nurturing, inclusive, and safe environment for young learners, focusing on their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Design age-appropriate discipline frameworks, reward systems, and socio-emotional support programs.
  • Monitor student progress, address learning gaps, and liaise with parents to support individual child development.

4. Operational and Administrative Oversight

  • Coordinate with administration for facility upkeep, classroom readiness, and resource availability for early childhood programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and welfare in line with CBSE and school requirements.
  • Prepare reports and updates for the Vice Principal on academic and operational matters of the Elementary School.

5. Parent Engagement and Communication

  • Establish regular communication channels with parents through meetings, newsletters, and workshops.
  • Address parental concerns with sensitivity and provide guidance on supporting their child’s early learning journey.
  • Organize and oversee school events, celebrations, and exhibitions for the Elementary School segment.

  • Deep understanding of Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) principles.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Innovative, child-centric mindset with patience and empathy.
  • Ability to implement and manage multiple programs simultaneously.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Early Childhood Education / Education / Psychology or equivalent.
  • B.Ed. / NTT / ECCE certification (mandatory).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of teaching experience in early years with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong familiarity with CBSE guidelines and progressive early years pedagogies.

Work Environment and Reporting

  • Full-time, on-campus leadership position.
  • Reports directly to The Principal – Junior School and collaborates with academic and activity coordinators, administrative staff, and parents.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
