Role Overview

Head Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

This is a senior leadership role requiring deep financial acumen, strong industry insight, and proven experience in managing complex domestic and international M&A transactions.

Key Responsibilities

1. M&A Strategy & Planning

  • Define and drive the organization’s M&A roadmap aligned with overall strategic goals.
  • Identify potential acquisition, divestment, and strategic partnership opportunities in the automotive and auto component space.
  • Conduct industry scanning, competitor benchmarking, and market mapping to support deal origination.

2. Deal Evaluation & Execution

  • Lead the entire transaction lifecycle — from target identification, valuation, and due diligence to negotiation and closure.
  • Develop robust financial models, business cases, and synergy analyses for target companies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including investment bankers, consultants, legal advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Lead negotiations on deal structure, pricing, and terms in collaboration with the executive leadership team.

3. Financial & Legal Due Diligence

  • Oversee comprehensive financial, operational, and legal due diligence processes.
  • Evaluate key risks and opportunities associated with each deal and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory requirements throughout the transaction process.

4. Post-Merger Integration

  • Develop integration plans to align acquired entities with the organization’s operational, cultural, and strategic frameworks.
  • Monitor synergy realization, performance metrics, and post-acquisition value creation.
  • Drive effective change management to ensure seamless transition and business continuity.

5. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with CXOs, Board members, and business heads to communicate M&A strategy, progress, and outcomes.
  • Build and lead a high-performing M&A and strategy team.
  • Maintain relationships with investment banks, private equity firms, consultants, and other ecosystem partners for deal flow and intelligence.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale M&A transactions in the

    automotive or manufacturing sector

  • Strong understanding of

    corporate finance, valuation techniques, and deal structuring

  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory, tax, and legal aspects of M&A.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Global exposure and experience in cross-border transactions preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Engineering, or Commerce.
  • MBA in Finance or Strategy from a reputed institution preferred.
  • CA / CFA qualification would be an added advantage.
