Role Overview

Procurement Consultant

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

  • Manage end-to-end sourcing of

    direct materials

    including raw materials, components, and assemblies for OEM operations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers in line with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Conduct cost benchmarking, price negotiations, and supplier performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.

2. Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and quality standards.
  • Resolve supply chain issues related to delivery delays, quality deviations, and logistics challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to enhance performance and reliability.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production, R&D, quality, and logistics teams to align procurement strategies with business needs.
  • Support new product development (NPD) projects by sourcing and validating suppliers for prototype and mass production stages.
  • Collaborate with finance to manage purchase order approvals, payment terms, and cost reporting.

4. Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Track and report key procurement metrics including spend analysis, cost savings, and supplier performance.
  • Provide regular project updates and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure data accuracy and maintain documentation for all sourcing activities.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong background in

    direct material sourcing

    within the

    automotive or OEM environment

    .
  • Excellent negotiation, supplier management, and cost analysis skills.
  • Deep understanding of procurement processes, vendor qualification, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator with cross-functional collaboration ability.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle or similar) and MS Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • MBA in Operations / Supply Chain preferred (not mandatory).
