Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The Head of the Automated Testing Station (ATS) is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of ATS setup and operations, including infrastructure development, machinery installation, government liaison, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day functioning. The role demands strong leadership, operational excellence, technical expertise, and the ability to work closely with regulatory authorities.

A. Setup & Commissioning

  1. Infrastructure Development

    • Finalize and manage contractors for ATS construction.
    • Monitor construction progress with daily updates and ensure timely execution.
    • Ensure infrastructure readiness in line with statutory and operational requirements.
  2. Machinery & Equipment Installation

    • Oversee installation, calibration, and testing of automated vehicle testing equipment.
    • Ensure all machines meet regulatory and operational standards.
  3. Government Liaison & Approvals

    • Liaise with MoRTH, RTOs, and transport departments for statutory approvals and inspections.
    • Facilitate integration with VAHAN/Parivahan and ensure all required licenses and permits are obtained.
  4. Recruitment & Training

    • Manage recruitment of technical, administrative, and support staff.
    • Oversee staff onboarding and training on SOPs, safety standards, and compliance protocols.

B. ATS Operations Management

  1. Daily Operations Monitoring

    • Monitor day-to-day activities of the ATS to ensure smooth and uninterrupted functioning.
    • Supervise testing lanes, staff schedules, customer handling, and issue resolution.
    • Ensure all processes adhere to defined SOPs and service benchmarks.
  2. Testing Station Oversight

    • Oversee the entire vehicle fitness testing lifecycle using automated systems.
    • Ensure tests are accurate, timely, and compliant with CMVR and MoRTH norms.
  3. Customer Experience & Service Delivery

    • Supervise vehicle check-in, documentation, and test flow to ensure a seamless customer experience.
    • Ensure minimal wait times and effective resolution of customer queries.
  4. Compliance, Audits & Reporting

    • Maintain full compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports to relevant authorities.
    • Ensure audit-readiness through complete documentation and process integrity.
  5. Coordination with Authorities

    • Collaborate with RTOs and government officials for inspections, data validation, and process improvements.
    • Address and respond to any government queries or observations.
  6. Maintenance & Quality Control

    • Oversee routine maintenance and calibration of testing machinery and software systems.
    • Implement regular quality checks to ensure accuracy, safety, and service consistency.

Preferred candidate profile

  • 8 to 12 years of experience in infrastructure projects, automotive testing, or transport operations.
  • Strong understanding of MoRTH regulations, CMVR rules, and vehicle testing procedures.
