Role:
Consultant Pulmonologist (General Medicine) — On-site, Assam, IndiaRole & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient respiratory and general medicine care, including diagnosis and management of asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, tuberculosis and respiratory infections.
- Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures: bronchoscopy, thoracentesis, PFTs, thoracic ultrasound and, where available, EBUS—ensuring procedural safety and documentation.
- Manage acute respiratory failure and critically ill patients in ICU settings—initiate and titrate invasive and non-invasive ventilation and coordinate with the multidisciplinary critical care team.
- Lead evidence-based treatment planning, prepare discharge summaries, and follow-up plans; ensure appropriate use of antibiotics, steroids and biologics per protocols.
- Participate in TB control initiatives, respiratory clinics, and local public health programs; support diagnostic stewardship and infection-control practices.
- Mentor junior clinicians and nursing staff, contribute to clinical audits, and maintain high standards for documentation, consent and patient safety.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MD/DNB in Pulmonary Medicine OR MD/DNB in General Medicine with significant pulmonology experience
- Registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) / State Medical Council
- Proven experience performing diagnostic & therapeutic bronchoscopy and thoracic procedures
- Competence in mechanical ventilation and NIV management in ICU settings
- Strong ability to interpret pulmonary function tests and chest imaging
- Current certification in ACLS and infection-control best practices
Preferred
- Experience with EBUS and advanced interventional pulmonology procedures
- Prior work in tertiary-care hospitals or high-volume respiratory units
- Training or experience in sleep medicine (polysomnography interpretation)
