General Manager - Safety (O&M)

Purpose/Objective

Implementation of Group safety and project safety compliance and adherence to them. Being proactive, staying a step ahead of the group on safety and environmental hazards. Work in coordination with Site Construction Head, Head HSE & HSE Lead, Project Managers, Civil lead, Mechanical lead, Electrical lead, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure safety compliances. Provide advice to execution team on health and safety matters. Inspect site conditions to determine that no hazards are present. Focus on work safety. Analyze risk at work place, prepare risk mitigation plan and implement emergency plan and response mechanism. To Ensure PMC and contractor's safety team is aligned with our safety policies and compliance. To ensure health and safety of all the staff and workman working at the Project Site

Key Responsibilities of Role

- Support the HSE team in establishing the safety function, processes, and guidelines from scratch for the new business. - Take the lead in implementing and establishing the HSE system within the assigned area of control. - Provide inputs to the HSE team in developing safety SOPs, systems, and processes. - Ensure all safety measures are followed by contractors and monitor adherence to safety policies and practices. - Assist in preparing safety standards, guidelines, and policies for site implementation. - Promote safe practices across job sites and ensure compliance with all safety standards and record-keeping requirements. - Respond to employees' safety concerns and conduct emergency response drills. - Oversee HSE induction for new joiners and toolbox meetings at work fronts. - Organize and conduct specific HSE training sessions in coordination with the HSE team. - Train staff in First Aid and monitor related activities. - Identify training needs for HSE engineers in collaboration with the HSE team. - Conduct investigations of all accidents and near-misses. - Suggest and ensure implementation of hazard mitigation methods. - Conduct risk assessments for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities to ensure safe execution. - Organize and lead site HSE Committee meetings. - Prepare and maintain various MIS reports. - Develop the Emergency Response & Disaster Management Plan (ERDMP) as per regulatory guidelines. - Evaluate and approve HSE competencies and performance of contractors and subcontractors. - Conduct routine inspections at work fronts and report unsafe/hazardous conditions to responsible supervisors or discipline engineers.

Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures ,HSE Training and awareness ,HSE audit and inspection ,HSE-Risk assessment and mitigation plant ,Legal and compliance- HSE Governance

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering. Postgraduate qualification or diploma in Industrial Safety / Environment / Occupational Health is highly desirable. Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent international safety standards are preferred. 15-20 years of experience in Petrochemical /Oil & Gas Industry. Proven experience in setting up safety systems and processes in large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects. Experience in managing contractor safety, risk assessments, and emergency response planning.
