Job Description

Role Overview: As a Senior Accountant / General Ledger SME, you will be responsible for managing key aspects of the general ledger and supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting activities. This hybrid role combines core accounting functions with financial analysis and reporting. Your strong foundation in U.S. GAAP, hands-on experience with ERP systems, and ability to analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making will be crucial in this role. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries related to accruals, prepaids, allocations, and other GL activities. - Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. - Lead or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes in accordance with closing schedules. - Ensure compliance with internal controls, company accounting policies, and U.S. GAAP. - Assist in the preparation of internal financial statements, reporting packages, and variance analyses. - Analyze GL data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement. - Collaborate with FP&A and other finance teams to align reporting and forecasting. - Support audit processes by preparing workpapers, reconciliations, and responding to inquiries. - Identify and implement improvements to streamline GL and reporting processes. - Assist with system upgrades, automation initiatives, and cross-functional projects. - Maintain and improve reporting templates and documentation standards. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. - 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in general accounting, GL, or financial reporting. - Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial close procedures. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or Workday). - Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills. - Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Additional Details: The ideal candidate for this role would also possess: - Chartered Accountancy or progress toward Chartered Accountancy designation. - Experience in a large corporate, retail, services or multi-entity environment. - Exposure to financial statement preparation and audit support. - Familiarity with financial reporting tools (e.g., Adaptive, Hyperion, Power BI, Tableau).
