Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    Lead – Market Intelligence is responsible for leading the collection, analysis, and dissemination of market insights related to commodities, vendors, pricing trends, and external risks. The role provides strategic input to category leads and the Head - GCP to influence procurement decisions through informed forecasting, benchmarking, and supply chain visibility. This position ensures the organization remains agile and responsive to market dynamics, geopolitical shifts, and cost fluctuations.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Market Trend Monitoring: Develop detailed market intelligence and pricing analysis to track fluctuations in raw material costs, commodity indices, input inflation, and broader economic trends impacting procurement categories. Collaborate with AI and data science teams to develop robust, predictive price forecasting models with granular segmentation by product, category, and market region. Maximize the use of industry-specific touchpoints and minimize model divergence by incorporating high-quality data from relevant sources. Continuously monitor market dynamics for critical categories such as steel, cement, cables, and polymers to inform strategic sourcing decisions. Benchmarking & Industry Data Analysis: Benchmark current procurement prices against industry standards, peer pricing, and historical trends to evaluate cost competitiveness and identify negotiation levers. Develop and maintain a structured market intelligence system, including a centralized dashboard that consolidates inputs from trade publications, government indices, commodity exchanges, analyst reports, and vendor market feedback. Leverage insights to recommend pricing targets, negotiation thresholds, and timing strategies for bulk procurement. Forecasting & Risk Alerting: Generate data-driven forecasts on commodity prices, availability, and market trends to support procurement planning and risk mitigation. Design early warning systems to proactively flag emerging risks such as input cost escalation, supply shortages, currency volatility, or geopolitical disruptions. Provide timely alerts to category teams, enabling proactive supplier engagement and contingency planning. Vendor Landscape & Supply Chain Mapping: Map supplier ecosystems across domestic and international geographies to assess coverage, identify sourcing gaps, and uncover opportunities for vendor diversification. Evaluate new and emerging vendors based on production capacity, quality certifications, cost competitiveness, and geographical advantages. Develop a dynamic supply chain heatmap to inform sourcing strategy and mitigate dependency risks. Integration with Procurement Planning: Share timely and actionable market intelligence with category leads to align sourcing strategies with market conditions. Lead demand consolidation opportunities by identifying favorable market windows for procurement, bulk buys, or contract renegotiations. Bridge market research and execution by embedding intelligence into annual and long-term procurement planning frameworks. Dashboarding & Reporting: Develop and regularly update visually rich dashboards to present consolidated market intelligence, category-specific trends, and actionable insights. Ensure dashboards are intuitive, real-time where possible, and aligned with executive reporting formats. Prepare structured summary reports and visual presentations for monthly and quarterly leadership reviews to support strategic procurement decisions. External Networking: Build and maintain a network of external stakeholders including industry consultants, commodity analysts, suppliers, chambers of commerce, and industry associations. Engage actively with external forums, webinars, exhibitions, and trade conferences to stay informed on emerging trends, policy changes, and market forecasts. Use external intelligence to complement internal data and enhance market awareness across procurement functions.

Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or Statistics Master’s degree or certification in Supply Chain Analytics / Market Research / Business Intelligence is preferred Work Experience: 12+ years of experience in procurement intelligence, market trend analysis, or commodity pricing Exposure to market research and analytics functions with understanding of outcomes mentioned in the roles and responsibilities and preferably from relevant industry (Civil / Electrical / Mechanical / MHS / Real Estate / Interior & Furnishing / Steel) Industry connects in terms of OEMs, regulatory bodies, industry associations like local and global leading commodity exchanges Exposure and experience in Consulting organisation in Procurement / SCM space with hands on experience in handling the Market Intelligence / Analytics outcomes in Transformation Process Strong knowledge of data modeling tools, research methodologies, and procurement systems
