Job Description: Food Safety Team Leader

Position: Food Safety Team Leader
Department: Quality Assurance
Reports To: Top Management / Quality Manager

Purpose of the Role

The Food Safety Team Leader is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) in accordance with FSSC 22000, while also fulfilling Quality Assurance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Safety Team Management
  • Lead, manage, and coordinate food safety team members.
  • Organize team activities to ensure effective FSMS implementation.
  • FSMS Documentation & Review
  • Review and update:
  • Process flow diagrams
  • Product specifications
  • Hazard analysis
  • Risk assessments for products and processes
  • Hazard Analysis & Control Measures
  • Conduct hazard analysis and determine appropriate control measures.
  • Establish and maintain PRPs, O-PRPs, and CCPs.
  • Implement and monitor control measures as per the monitoring plan.
  • Training & Awareness
  • Ensure relevant food safety and quality training programs are provided.
  • Improve food safety and quality awareness among all employees.
  • Verification & Validation
  • Establish and maintain verification and validation programs for control measures.
  • Ensure effectiveness of the FSMS.
  • Corrective Actions
  • Take corrective actions when monitoring results indicate deviations from control limits.
  • Ensure corrective actions prevent the release of unsafe products.
  • Provide documented evidence that issues are corrected promptly.
  • Incident & Deviation Management
  • Evaluate deviations, especially major food safety incidents.
  • Define and implement additional preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Recall Management
  • Initiate and manage mock and actual product recalls from the market and/or end consumers as per established procedures.
  • Emergency Preparedness
  • Initiate and ensure mock and actual emergency preparedness activities are conducted according to written procedures.
  • Management Reporting
  • Report to top management on the effectiveness and performance of the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System.

  • HACCP and risk assessment expertise
  • Leadership and communication skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Regulatory and food safety compliance knowledge

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month

Work Location: In person
