Job Description

Apollo Tyres Ltd is an international tyre manufacturer and the leading tyre brand in India. The company has multiple manufacturing units in India and a unit each in The Netherlands and Hungary. Job Title: Field Engineering – Test Specialist
Location: Chennai R&D
Reports to (Position): Kaliappan .
Department/Function: R&D - TESTING - CV, OHT & INDOOR

Purpose of the Job:

To conduct vehicle level field evaluation & validate the performance of all categories of Tyres in controlled conditions as per test plan requirement
To monitor tyre duty cycle through sensorisation and compare the tyre performance
To provide competitive intelligence & product performance and act as Eyes & Ears of R&D
Identify anomaly through On-the-Go analysis and collaborate with teams to take corrective and preventive actions

Major Responsibilities:

Plan, schedule and organize tyre field evaluation as per Standard Operating Procedures & Work instructions (P)
Responsible for on-time fitment through right customer/fleet (P)
identification and vehicle alignment as per test requirement (P)
Periodical inspection of all test vehicles and do virtual gemba for early mediation as per target (P)
Prepare decisive / closure / tyre damage reports according to business requirement and share with internal stake holders (D)
Sensorization of Test tyre/vehicle as per plan, control test conditions& analyse tyre performance against duty cycle (D)
Tracking performance of major competitions vs equivalent Apollo tyres/OEM fitments for comparative evaluation (P)
To improve testing efficiency, identify large test fleets, develop rapport and train customers for optimizing tyre performance (P)
Adhering Apollo Safety & Environment policy at all times to maintain zero accident (S)
Interface with internal and external stake holders to facilitate testing & evaluation as per schedule (M)
Maintain & Calibrate testing equipment with ownership mindset to ensure its functions & compliance with standards (Q)

Knowledge in Tyre testing standards
Knowledge on parameters governing tyre performance - Driving severity, road topography and Vehicle-mechanism/alignment
Knowledge in Tyre Defect /failure Mechanism
Familiar with MS office tools such Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, One Drive & point

Skills:

Testing and evaluation as per standard
Measurement system analysis (MSA)
Conceptual, analytical & problem-solving skills
System Thinking & growth mindset.
Effective Communication & Documentation

Qualifications:
BE / B.Tech, - Mechanical / Automobile /Rubber /Polymer/ Technology Experience :
Minimum 3+ years of experience in Tyre /automobile Industry BE in Automobile Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Polymer Technology / Rubber Technology
