Position Overview

The Fabric Merchant will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing fabric inventory while building strong relationships with suppliers and customers. This role combines product expertise, negotiation skills, and an eye for trends to ensure we carry materials that meet market demand and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and purchase a wide range of fabrics from local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure profitability.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs.
• Evaluate fabric quality, texture, color consistency, and overall suitability for customer requirements.
• Stay updated on textile trends, market prices, and new materials.
• Manage vendor and client relationships with professionalism and reliability.
• Oversee fabric displays, sample management, and product presentations.
• Support customers with product knowledge and recommendations.
• Coordinate with sales, warehouse, and management teams to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in textiles, fabric trading, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of different types of fabrics, weaving techniques, qualities, and uses.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to travel for sourcing, trade shows, or supplier visits (if applicable).
• Proficiency in inventory management and basic computer skills.
