Role Overview: You are being sought after by Abnormal AI to take on the role of Engineering Manager for the Misdirected Email Prevention (MEP) team. Your primary mission will be to prevent accidental data loss by ensuring that sensitive emails do not reach unintended recipients. The MEP team focuses on building reliable, scalable systems that seamlessly integrate into enterprise environments, facilitating fast onboarding, dependable operation, and a smooth protection experience. Your responsibility will be to lead this team from end to end, overseeing the execution and delivery of core MEP capabilities. Collaboration with the Detection, Product, and Platform teams will be crucial in bringing new features to life while maintaining the robustness and efficiency of systems at scale. Additionally, the team will look to expand its scope beyond misdirected emails to support Abnormal's broader Data Loss Prevention offering. Key Responsibilities: - Recruiting and Team Building: * Collaborate closely with recruiting to identify hiring needs, create job descriptions, and swiftly secure top talent * Proactively recognize headcount or capability gaps, suggesting organizational design changes as per evolving product and customer requirements * Develop comprehensive onboarding experiences to ensure long-term success for new hires - People Management and Growth: * Cultivate a healthy, inclusive team culture focused on trust, engagement, and continuous development * Manage performance through clear expectations, actionable feedback, and personalized coaching * Support engineers" career growth and provide them with the necessary context, clarity, and support for success - Execution and Delivery: * Lead execution through precise planning, prioritization, and alignment with product objectives * Collaborate with Product Managers and Tech Leads to ensure high-quality delivery and technical excellence * Effectively communicate progress, risks, and priorities to leadership for strong alignment and upward management - Operational Excellence and Process Improvement: * Take charge of operational health by defining key metrics, enhancing system reliability, and ensuring smooth releases * Identify and address process gaps proactively, introducing tools or workflows for improved speed, quality, and clarity * Establish scalable processes for launches, incident response, and customer support collaboration - Leadership and Collaboration: * Translate long-term goals into actionable strategies and measurable outcomes for the team * Work with Product, Design, and Architecture teams to develop cohesive, customer-centric solutions * Collaborate with senior leadership on quarterly OKRs, strategic planning, and the long-term evolution toward Abnormal's broader product vision Qualifications Required: - 2+ years of engineering management experience, leading a team of 4+ engineers in building enterprise-level customer-facing products - 4+ years of product development leadership experience collaborating cross-functionally to deliver scalable, reliable, enterprise-class customer-facing products - 2+ years of experience leading full stack teams responsible for building and maintaining production systems at scale - Demonstrated ability to partner with recruiting to define hiring needs, attract senior talent, and build high-performing teams - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to align leadership, cross-functional partners, and distributed teams towards common goals - Proactive approach in identifying gaps, driving process improvements, and taking initiative independently - Maintains high standards for technical quality, reliability, and execution, setting high benchmarks for themselves and their team - BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience) Company Details: The additional details of the company are not mentioned in the provided job description.,
