Job Title: Emergency Room (ER) Physician – MD/DNB (Emergency Medicine) Department: Emergency Medicine Location: [Hospital Name, City, State] Reports To: Head – Emergency Department / Medical Director Employment Type: Full-Time / Shift-based Position Summary We are seeking a dynamic and skilled ER Physician (MD/DNB) to join our Emergency Medicine Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the immediate diagnosis, stabilization, and management of critically ill or injured patients presenting to the Emergency Room. The physician must be proficient in acute care protocols and procedures, multidisciplinary coordination, and quick decision-making under pressure. Key Responsibilities Provide immediate medical attention and resuscitation to patients in critical and life-threatening conditions. Perform emergency procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, chest tube insertion, defibrillation, and point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). Triage patients effectively and initiate prompt diagnostics and treatment plans. Coordinate with specialty departments for patient admissions, consultations, and referrals. Document clinical assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately in the EMR. Supervise junior doctors, residents, and emergency medical staff as required. Adhere to standard treatment protocols and contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines. Participate in code blue, trauma codes, and disaster management drills. Ensure compliance with medico-legal documentation and protocols. Contribute to CME activities, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications MBBS with MD or DNB in Emergency Medicine (recognized by NMC/MCI). Valid state medical council registration. BLS, ACLS, and preferably ATLS certified. 0–5 years of post-PG experience in a high-volume emergency department (Freshers may apply). Skills & Competencies Clinical expertise in emergency care and acute trauma management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interaction. Proficiency in emergency procedures and rapid diagnostics. Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Knowledge of EMR systems and documentation standards. Desirable Attributes Experience in tertiary care or trauma centers. Exposure to international emergency medicine practices is an added advantage. Participation in academic research, publications, or teaching. Work Environment 24x7 Emergency Department with shift-based duties. High-acuity, fast-paced clinical setting.
