We are seeking a skilled Email Server Administrator with strong hands-on experience in Zimbra Server management to oversee and maintain our company’s email infrastructure.


Position Summary


The Email Server Administrator will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing PracticeSuite’s email environment, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. This role requires deep technical expertise in Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) administration, along with general knowledge of mail routing, security protocols, and integration with enterprise systems.


Key Responsibilities


  • Administer, monitor, and maintain Zimbra email servers, including installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.


  • Manage user accounts, groups, aliases, and distribution lists.


  • Implement and maintain email security policies, spam filtering, and data loss prevention measures.


  • Troubleshoot and resolve email delivery issues, synchronization problems, and client connectivity errors (e.g., Outlook, mobile, webmail).


  • Configure and maintain DNS, SMTP, IMAP, and POP3 services for optimal mail flow.


  • Collaborate with IT security to manage SSL certificates, access controls, and backup/recovery strategies.


  • Maintain server logs, monitor system performance, and ensure high uptime and reliability.


  • Provide documentation, standard operating procedures, and training to support internal IT operations.


  • Evaluate and implement improvements to optimize mail performance and user experience.


  • Liaise with vendors and third-party providers for escalated support and service continuity.


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


  • 3+ years of experience administering and managing Zimbra Collaboration Suite (ZCS) in a production environment.


  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems administration (Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat preferred).


  • Proficiency with DNS, SMTP, IMAP, POP3, and mail routing concepts.


  • Experience with SSL certificate management, email encryption, and spam/virus filtering tools (e.g., Amavis, SpamAssassin, ClamAV).


  • Familiarity with Zimbra CLI tools and Zimlets management.


  • Knowledge of backup/recovery processes, system monitoring, and performance tuning.


  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.


  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.


Preferred Skills


Experience integrating Zimbra with Active Directory / LDAP.


Knowledge of PowerShell scripting, **Bash
