Job Description

The Email Deliverability Specialist ensures that all marketing and transactional emails successfully reach recipients inboxes. This role combines technical expertise, analytical skills, and strategic thinking to optimize email performance, maintain compliance with industry standards, and protect sender reputation. The specialist will work closely with marketing, IT, and compliance teams to implement best practices and troubleshoot issues impacting inbox placement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Analyze Performance: Track deliverability metrics (bounce rates, inbox placement, spam complaints, open rates) and identify trends or anomalies.
  • Troubleshoot Issues: Diagnose and resolve deliverability problems related to authentication, content, list hygiene, or infrastructure.
  • Implement Best Practices: Ensure proper configuration of SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and BIMI records; maintain compliance with CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other regulations.
  • Optimize Campaigns: Collaborate with marketing teams to improve engagement through segmentation, cadence, and content strategies.
  • Manage Reputation: Monitor IP/domain reputation and remediate blacklist issues promptly.
  • ISP ESP Relations: Work with Internet Service Providers and Email Service Providers to resolve deliverability challenges.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on deliverability health and actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Education Training: Advise internal teams on deliverability best practices and emerging trends.
  • Testing Audits: Conduct inbox placement tests and periodic audits of email programs to ensure compliance and performance.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of proven experience in email deliverability, email marketing, or related technical role.
  • Strong understanding of email authentication protocols (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and spam filtering mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with major ESP platforms (e.g., Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo).
  • Knowledge of email compliance laws (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL).
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in reporting tools and data interpretation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with deliverability monitoring tools (e.g., Validity, GlockApps, Postmaster Tools).
  • Understanding of IP/domain warm-up strategies and engagement-based deliverability tactics.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation workflows and CRM systems.
