DESCRIPTION:

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working with the authors to shape the content and to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Able to take complete ownership of books assigned.
  • Content development and editing in keeping with market standards .
  • Incorporating author and reviewer feedback
  • Seeing the books through the proofs stages, with close involvement in layout creation, illustrations and the final look of the books.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

Sound knowledge of the basics and nuances of English language and grammar, as well as English literature.

The ideal candidate would be detail as well as deadline-oriented, able to work with other editors in a team to bring out the project within the available time.
He or she would also be willing to keep abreast of the latest development/ changes in curricula as well as with products brought out by the competition.

Role Overview

ELT (English Language Teaching) Editor

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit

    English Language textbooks

    in alignment with curriculum guidelines of CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards.
  • Collaborate with authors, subject matter experts, and freelancers to ensure high-quality content development.
  • Ensure content accuracy, language appropriateness, and adherence to pedagogical standards.
  • Work closely with the design and production teams to create visually appealing and learner-friendly materials.
  • Conduct market research and competition analysis to align content with market requirements.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on manuscripts and proofs.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliverables, ensuring quality and deadlines are met.
  • Proofread and fact-check content at various stages of production.
  • Stay updated with educational trends, curriculum changes, and ELT methodologies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Masters degree or above in English Literature or Comparative Literature
  • 3-5 years of experience in K12 ELT publishing or educational content development.
  • Strong understanding of the Indian educational landscape, especially CBSE, ICSE, and State Boards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in manuscript development, editing, and project management.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and publishing software.
  • Experience working with design and production teams.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong editorial skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of ELT methodologies and language pedagogy.
  • Ability to collaborate and work in cross-functional teams.
  • Creativity and passion for educational publishing.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms and tools.
  • Experience in developing teacher's manuals, workbooks, and supplementary materials.
