Developmental Editor-Contractual role

Mps is hiring for Developmental Editor (Contractual role) for Noida location .

Developmental Editor plays a key role in the Content Development teams creation of high-quality print and digital learning materials for higher education. This position provides editorial leadership across multiple projects, guiding internal and external contributors to ensure clarity, accuracy, pedagogical strength, and alignment with client expectations. Working closely with the Executive Director of Content Development, the Developmental Editor helps shape content that supports effective teaching and learning, grounded in principles of adult learning theory and evidence-based instructional design.

Position Responsibilities

• Review, edit, and write high-quality content for print and e-learning products across a wide range of higher-education disciplines.
• Collaborate with clients, authors, and subject matter experts to develop content, identify issues, and refine instructional approaches.
• Guide content through appropriate editorial, review, and workflow processes to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
• Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with guidelines.
• Provide timely, actionable, and constructive editorial feedback to writers and contributors to enhance clarity, instructional value, and user engagement.
• Assist in evaluating and vetting samples from external resources, including writers, subject matter experts, and freelance editors.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Content Development, Publishing Operations, and Project Management, to support project goals and maintain strong communication throughout the product cycle.

Required Skills and Qualities

• Exceptional editorial, writing, and rewriting skills, with the ability to shape complex material into clear, engaging, and pedagogically sound content.
• Strong understanding of higher-education pedagogy, instructional design principles, and adult learning theory, and the ability to apply them in content development.
• Comprehensive knowledge of content development, publishing workflows, and best practices.
• Ability to provide high-quality editorial guidance and feedback while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Outstanding organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, and proactively solve problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, internal colleagues, and external contributors

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in English, Professional or Science Writing, Communications, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Two to five years of experience in higher-education publishing, content development, or related editorial roles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
