Job Description

The Electrical HOD is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment in the biomass power plant during the assigned shift. This includes monitoring and maintaining HT/LT systems, generators, motors, switchgear, transformers, and auxiliary systems, while responding promptly to any electrical faults or breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain all plant electrical systems, including HT and LT panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, and UPS systems.
  • Ensure the safe start-up, shutdown, and synchronization of generators and auxiliary systems during shift operations.
  • Perform regular inspection, testing, and condition monitoring of electrical equipment as per checklists and SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults, trips, and breakdowns in coordination with control room and maintenance teams.
  • Maintain daily shift logbooks, equipment status reports, and energy consumption records.
  • Monitor and ensure proper functioning of electrical protection systems and relay settings.
  • Carry out isolation, earthing, and permit-to-work procedures during maintenance or breakdowns.
  • Coordinate with operations and mechanical teams for smooth plant functioning.
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical safety standards and statutory regulations (CEA, IE Rules, etc.).
  • Participate in root cause analysis of failures and assist in preventive and predictive maintenance planning.
  • Ensure availability and upkeep of critical electrical spares and tools during shifts.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institute.
  • 10-15 years of experience in electrical operations and maintenance in a power plant, preferably Thermal/Biomass or renewable energy-based.
  • Valid Electrical License (as per local/state electrical authority norms) is preferred.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems in thermal/biomass power plants.
  • Knowledge of HT/LT equipment, protection relays, switchgear, and motor control systems.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical drawings and troubleshooting control circuits.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/DCS systems and plant instrumentation (preferred).
  • Strong safety awareness and adherence to LOTO and isolation procedures.
  • Good communication and shift reporting skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹55,000.00 - ₹75,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Phalodi, Rajasthan: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
