EHS Officer

In this role of HSE Officer/Safety Officer - Building Systems (MEP/ELV) based in Bangalore, as a Junior Safety Officer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) system installation and maintenance activities. You will assist in implementing safety protocols, conducting inspections, and fostering a strong safety culture among site personnel and subcontractors. This role is suitable for an individual with a proactive approach and a solid foundation in construction and building systems. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Site Inspections & Hazard Identification:** Regularly conduct site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance with safety regulations related to MEP/ELV work. - **Safety Monitoring & Enforcement:** Ensure strict adherence to OHS policies, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all workers. Stop unsafe acts immediately when necessary. - **Risk Assessment Assistance:** Aid in preparing Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Risk Assessments for MEP and ELV activities. Integrate safety considerations into daily work plans. - **Training and Awareness:** Organize safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions on general and job-specific safety topics. - **Incident Response & Investigation:** Assist in investigating incidents, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions. - **Documentation and Reporting:** Maintain accurate safety records, incident reports, and HSE performance reports for management. - **Emergency Preparedness:** Support the development of emergency response plans and conduct regular safety drills. - **Compliance Support:** Ensure on-site activities comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards. **Qualifications and Skills:** - **Education:** Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical) or Occupational Health & Safety/Environmental Management. - **Certifications:** Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA 30-Hour) is preferred. - **Knowledge:** Foundational knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Familiarity with MEP/ELV systems is a plus. - **Skills:** Strong observational skills, excellent communication, problem-solving abilities, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
