Profile - HSE Officer

Qualification - B.Tech - Electrical, Environmental / BSC - Chemistry, Physics + Diploma - NEBOSH, IGC, DIS, ADIS /Health & Safety certifications (Mandatory)

Experience - Min 2-5 years of direct and hands-on experience as an HSE Officer or similar role, specifically within the construction, power, infrastructure, or renewable energy (solar/wind) sectors..

Salary - Upto 10 LPA

Location - Bengaluru, Karnataka

Job Summary:

The Health & Safety Officer will be responsible for the on-site implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. This role is crucial in creating a safe working culture, preventing incidents, and ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations and industry best practices during the construction and operation phases of our solar and wind power projects.

Key Responsibilities:

HSE Policy Implementation & Enforcement:

* Ensure strict adherence to company HSE policies, procedures, and relevant national (e.g., Factories Act, Construction Safety Regulations) and international safety standards at all project sites.

* Communicate HSE requirements effectively to all employees, contractors, and visitors on site.

Site Safety Management & Inspections:

* Conduct regular and thorough site safety inspections, audits, and walk-throughs to identify potential hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions specific to solar (e.g., working at heights, electrical hazards) and wind (e.g., heavy lifts, turbine erection) construction and operation.

* Monitor compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hot work, and other permit-to-work systems.

* Oversee the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all personnel.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification:

* Participate in and facilitate Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) sessions for various project activities.

* Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks effectively.

Safety Training & Awareness:

* Conduct regular safety inductions for new employees and contractors.

* Organize and deliver daily toolbox talks, safety awareness programs, and specialized safety training sessions relevant to site activities (e.g., working at heights, electrical safety, machine guarding).

* Promote safety awareness and a proactive safety culture among all site personnel.

Incident Management:

* Lead or assist in the investigation of all incidents, accidents, near misses, and occupational diseases.

* Conduct thorough root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.

* Prepare detailed incident reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Compliance & Documentation:

* Maintain comprehensive HSE records, including inspection reports, audit findings, training records, incident reports, and compliance documents.

* Ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and statutory registrations related to safety are in place and up to date.

* Prepare and submit required HSE reports to management and regulatory bodies.

Emergency Preparedness & Response:

* Develop and implement site-specific emergency response plans (ERPs) for various scenarios (e.g., fire, medical emergencies, electrical shock, fall from height).

* Organize and conduct regular emergency drills and mock exercises.

Contractor Safety Management:

* Review contractors' safety plans and procedures prior to work commencement.

* Monitor contractors' adherence to HSE requirements and conduct performance evaluations.

Environmental Compliance (Basic):

* Ensure basic environmental compliance on site, including waste management, pollution control, and adherence to environmental regulations.

REQUIRED:

* Strong practical knowledge of Indian Factories Act, Construction (Regulation and Abolition) Act, Electrical Safety Regulations, and other relevant labor and environmental laws

* Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training.

* Ability to enforce safety rules effectively while maintaining positive working relationships.
