Editorial Assistant

Key Responsibilities

Manuscript Management

• Manage the full lifecycle of submissions through the online editorial management system (e.g., ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, Open Journal Systems).
• Conduct initial checks for completeness, formatting, ethical compliance, and adherence to journal guidelines.
• Coordinate peer review by inviting reviewers, sending reminders, and tracking deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records of manuscripts, decisions, and editorial activity.

Editorial Support

• Assist editors with decision letters, reviewer communication, and manuscript transfers.
• Ensure all open access publishing requirements (e.g., CC BY licenses, APC documentation) are met before publication.

Author and Reviewer Support

• Provide clear and timely support to authors and reviewers regarding submission processes, system navigation, and journal policies.
• Help resolve technical issues and escalate problems when necessary.
• Maintain positive, professional communication that fosters strong relationships with the research community.

Quality, Policy & Compliance

• Verify compliance with ethical standards (COPE guidelines), conflict-of-interest disclosures, funding statements, and data availability requirements.
• Ensure manuscripts meet open access mandates from funders and institutions.
• Uphold journal style, formatting, and scientific integrity.

Educational Qualification: Anyone from Science background preferred
