Job Description

Job Summary: The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) will provide round-the-clock medical support in the Vascular Surgery department, ensuring high-quality patient care, clinical monitoring, and coordination with the surgical team. The DMO plays a key role in the pre-operative, intra-operative (as applicable), and post-operative care of vascular patients. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Care: Monitor and manage inpatients in the vascular ward, HDU, and ICU under the supervision of the consultant. Perform initial assessment of new admissions and emergency cases. Assist with daily ward rounds and document patient progress accurately in medical records. Respond promptly to emergencies, including bleeding, thromboembolic events, and vascular access complications. Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and monitor vital signs and lab investigations. Coordinate diagnostic procedures like Doppler studies, CT angiograms, etc. Emergency Duties: Provide first-line management for vascular emergencies such as acute limb ischemia, deep vein thrombosis, or aneurysm rupture. Liaise with emergency room physicians and surgical teams for timely interventions. Facilitate patient transfer for surgical or interventional procedures. Coordination & Communication: Communicate effectively with consultants, nurses, paramedical staff, and patient families. Ensure timely escalation of deteriorating patient conditions to the senior vascular surgeon. Maintain updated patient status for handovers and shift transitions. Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain patient records, consent forms, and discharge summaries. Ensure documentation compliance as per NABH/JCI or institutional standards. Assist in coordinating vascular clinics, follow-up appointments, and scheduling investigations. Qualifications: MBBS from a recognized institution (Mandatory) Registration with the Medical Council [State/National] ACLS/BLS certification preferred Experience in surgical or vascular departments is an added advantage. Skills Required: Strong clinical judgment and emergency management skills Knowledge of vascular conditions and common interventions Excellent communication and documentation skills Team player with attention to detail Willingness to work in shifts/rotation Experience Required: 1-5 Years of experience in Clinical investigation or vascular divisioin.
