Role Summary:

The Duty Manager is responsible for the smooth day-to-day operation of the cinema during their shift. They act as the main point of contact for staff and customers, ensuring excellent customer service, safety, and compliance with operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Front of House Management:
  • Oversee cinema operations during shifts, including ticketing, concessions, and customer service.
  • Ensure cleanliness and readiness of all areas before opening.
  • Customer Service:
  • Handle customer queries, complaints, and incidents promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain a welcoming and safe environment for patrons.
  • Staff Supervision:
  • Manage and allocate tasks to staff on duty.
  • Conduct pre-show briefings and ensure staff adhere to company policies.
  • Assist with training and development of team members.
  • Operational Duties:
  • Open and close the cinema following security and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with fire regulations, licensing conditions, and health & safety standards.
  • Prepare films and content for screenings as per schedule.
  • Financial & Stock Control:
  • Monitor ticket and concession sales, ensuring accuracy.
  • Handle cash securely and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage stock levels for concessions and complete stock reports.
  • Reporting:
  • Complete Duty Manager reports for each shift and escalate issues to senior management.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail management.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and solve problems quickly.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Previous experience in cinema/theatre or similar environment preferred.

Educational Qualification:

  • Minimum:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • Preferred:
  • Diploma or certification in Theatre/Cinema Management, Customer Service, or Retail Operations.

Experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in customer service, hospitality, or retail management.
  • Prior experience in cinema/theatre operations is an added advantage.
